Elimination Chronicles: Team Dohatec’s Bittersweet Journey in the Tournament

The Dohatec New Media cricket team had a lot of expectations as they entered the Inter Software Company T20 Cricket Tournament 2023. Their optimism was not unfounded as they were one of the top contenders in the competition, thanks to their strong batting lineup and capable bowling attack. In their first match against team IQVIA, they won convincingly by a massive margin of 141 runs. The win gave them a significant boost of confidence to tackle the challenges ahead. Tousif Khan, the team captain, was the star performer in the match, scoring an impressive 165 runs with 20 sixes. Masum Billah also performed excellently, taking 5 wickets for 28 runs in his allotted overs. The team celebrated the victory and was ready to face their next challenge.

The team faced several challenges during their recent matches, with fitness issues a significant concern. According to Tousif, the team’s performance was somewhat affected due to the lack of fitness among the players. Despite this setback, the team performed well overall, but their fielding suffered. This weakness was particularly evident in their second group match against the Brain Station-23 team, where they experienced a heartbreaking defeat after being dominated by the opposition in all departments. The decision to bat first on a dew-affected pitch backfired, and the captain expressed regret, stating that if fitness weren’t an issue, he would have opted to bowl first and take advantage of the weather conditions. The team ended up with a 7-wicket loss. Despite the loss, the team remained motivated and determined to bounce back and perform well in their upcoming matches.

The team remained focused on their goals despite losing to Brain Station in their second group match. They eagerly looked forward to their final group match against Kite Games, hoping to regain their lost momentum. However, the game was cancelled due to Cyclone Midhili, which dashed Dohatec’s hopes of making it to the next round. The captain believed they would have had a better chance of moving forward if they had played their last match. This is because the match was against a considerably weaker team in Kite Games, and fellow qualification contender Newroz Technologies had to face a fit and formidable Brain Station-23 team. If the stars aligned for team Dohatec, they could have qualified for the next round with a better run rate. Nevertheless, they took the setback in their stride and started planning ahead.

The team plans to continue progressing by organizing regular matches against equally-matched opponents. They also plan to implement a comprehensive fitness regimen 2-3 months before the next tournament to enhance the players’ fitness. The team is determined to put the disappointment behind them and aims to win the championship next year. The team is optimistic about their chances and is working hard to achieve their goal.
