Mr. Karma Wangdi is a highly accomplished professional in the field of procurement, with a distinguished career that spans over 25 years. He was the Chief Procurement Officer of The Royal Government of Bhutan, where he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and expertise in procurement and Supply Chain Management.
Throughout his career, Mr. Wangdi has been driving procurement reforms and modernization efforts in Bhutan. He played a pivotal role in the development and implementation of the electronic government procurement system (E-GP System) in the country, bringing about increased efficiency, transparency, and accountability in government procurement processes.
With his extensive experience in procurement and supply chain management, Mr. Wangdi has earned a reputation for his strategic insights and effective decision-making. He has successfully managed procurement activities, contract management, and executive-level responsibilities, contributing to the overall success of his organization.
Mr. Wangdi’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with Honors from Kanglung College and a post-graduation in Financial Management with Merit from the Royal Institute of Management, Bhutan. He further honed his skills by obtaining a Masters in Professional Accounting with Merit from Edith Cowan University in Perth, Western Australia.
In addition to his role as the Chief Procurement Officer, Mr. Wangdi is an active member of the procurement community. He has served as the Chairman of the SAARC South Asian Regional Procurement Conference (SAR) since 2019, fostering regional cooperation and best practices in procurement. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS), a prestigious distinction that recognizes his outstanding achievements, knowledge, and experience in the procurement field.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mr. Wangdi is known for his commitment to continuous learning and personal development. He actively engages in various professional activities and societies, including volunteering as a CIPS volunteer in Bhutan and participating in the executive Steering Committee of Gyalposhing IT College.
