“Luna Shamsuddoha is a very bright name in our business world,” said Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni. She handed over scholarships and educational materials to the children at the TMGB-Luna Shamsuddoha Scholarship 2022 awarding ceremony at the Biswa Sahitya Kendra auditorium in Dhaka on Tuesday, December 13.
Talking about Luna Shamsuddoha, The Education Ministersaid, “She is not just a woman entrepreneur, but also a great entrepreneur in Bangladesh, among both men and women, and in a field that is very modern. In this world of technology, it is generally said that women are very few. Entrepreneurship and Banking sectors, where our women presence is much lower than men, she has left her mark of excellence.”
The Minister also spoke about the education system at the event. She said that efforts are being made to transform education and she is keen to make education enjoyable.
According to her, education in our country has become joyless for a long time. But education should be fun. Students will gain knowledge, acquire skills, learn values and grow up with them. Skills are really needed nowadays. So information technology skills, communication skills, teamwork skills should be developed from childhood.
The event was arranged by the organization of technology journalists, “Technology Media Guild Bangladesh (TMGB)”, TMGB President Mohammad Kawshar Uddin presided over the event. He himself got emotional talking about renowned Entrepreneur and Technology Pioneer Luna Shamsuddoha. At the event, he said that he had known Luna Shamsuddoha almost from the beginning of his journalistic career. He said that most of the women entrepreneurs he have met were usually involved in family businesses. But Luna Shamsuddoha was different. She has been running her own software company for a long time and has always been involved in various large-scale projects including working with World Bank, working on Digital Voter ID list. Therefore, he felt that it is most natural to have the name of Luna Shamsuddoha in the scholarship from an organization related to Information Technology.
Abdallah Abu Saeed, founder of Vishwa Sahitya Kendra and late Luna Samsuddoha ‘s daughter Reem Samsuddoha were present as special guests in this event. Besides, former Education Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan, President of ISPAB was present there as a guest.
