CPTU Bangladesh e-GP system opens 2,230 tenders in a day

On Wednesday, May 3, 2023 the Procuring entities of the Government of Bangladesh flawlessly opened 2,230 tenders in a day without any incidents in the electronic government procurement (e-GP) system. This creates a new record for e-GP system and is significantly higher from the previous record of 1,508 tenders opened in a single day.

This is a huge achievement by Government officials who were responsible for opening the bids online.

This e-GP system is owned, developed, and operated by the Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU), is a single electronic government procurement system for all public entities to carry out their procurement operations utilizing a secure, web-based dashboard designed specifically for this purpose. The e-GP solution of Bangladesh  guarantees ubiquitous access to all bidders and tenderers while encouraging transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the public procurement process throughout Bangladesh. This system constitutes a pillar of the digital Bangladesh ensuring proper and rapid procurement as per internationally accepted standards.

e-GP is a World Bank-Bangladesh funded initiative. The introduction of the knowledge based system was a part of the Public Procurement Reform Program and has been widely integrated into all government organizations. The Bangladesh e-GP system has an audit component for use by officials of the auditor general. The successful execution of 2,230 tenders through the e-GP system represents a significant milestone in the procurement capacity of the Government of Bangladesh.
